Bonfire at Cafe du Monde

Tuesday Night at Cafe du Monde's Bonfire Street Party will be one to be remembered for quite some time.

The beautiful and talented DoctorEva Adored set the stage with her decorations, Aarons Resident DJed and set off fireworks and 2,550 Linden worth of gift cards were given out over the course of three hours.

New faces and "regulars" alike came to wish Jami Titanium a Happy Rezz Day, and send their regards to the (absent) Manok Bluxome who was also celebrating his Rezz Day.

Below are some snaps of the fabulous 3 hour event:

Sunrise and My Second Rezz Day

I am sitting in the Cafe du Monde and I have my world set to sunrise because, though I woke this morning at 4 am... I missed the sunrise in real life.

Lately my real life has been a bit dreary... mostly I've been locked up in my office trying to sort out real life work, or the latest family crisis that has arisen with my 9 year-old daughter who seems determined to give me gray hair at the tender age of 32...

And today is my rezz day... two years in Second Life.

It's a bit strange really that I should suddenly choke up... those who know me know that I am not a crier. And mind you, I'm not crying now. It's just a frog in my throat.  Honest.

But you see... I came to the cafe this morning and found something from someone I would have never expected.  And truly I was stunned and yes, humbled.

There are moments when we think the world is against us and no one loves us. It is human nature I suppose to think in such selfish and vain terms.  Everything simply seems to go "wrong" and Fate and her wheel have turned you under into the canal.

Evie and I have locked horns. More than once. However, I have always respected and admired her. She is smart, she works hard, and she speaks her mind.  If I am honest, I have often envied her wit and lack of fear in dealing with others.  She epitomizes many of the things I have wished to be... and do not always think I am.  There are many days I have thought she hated me.  Which was maybe why it hurt so much to admire her.

And yet I sit here in my cafe... completely stunned by her show of kindness and generosity.  She wrote a poem for me... even remembering how important and symbolic dragonflies are and have always been to me.  And she has put up pictures of some of my favorite memories.

At this point, I can't write much more.  Kindness like this often blows me away, simply because it is so foreign to me in my life...  But perhaps it is not as foreign as I have always thought.  Perhaps, it is just that I have been too busy "faking" a smile and a light heart to see that I'm not alone.

WHAT A CRACKING EASTER!!!

Sunday presented One Quarter French with one of the fabbest Second Life days ever. Easter means many things for many people and here in OQF we catered for all.

For some, the Easter day started with a prayer in the St. Louis Cathedral.  For many, Easter is about the Resurrection of Christ and this was duly noted in the cathedral.

For readers they will be aware of Beanie's neon Jesus who I know looks a touch like Noel Edmonds. However for me, the sentiment is there and Sunday signified the end of Lent, something which was very important to me.

The festivities continued with the Great Grid Wide Easter Egg hunt which brought many a hunter a rummaging and a foraging. Don't worry readers, the hunt continues till next Saturday... so there is still chance to get some fabulous prizes.

One of the highlights was the amazing bike ride. Poor Evie couldn't breathe with Wills suffocating her with his Easter chocolate balls... coughs eggs! The beautiful Moo and athletic Marshall provided counter weight gloriously for those tricky turns. Me well I did a solo Mexican wave whilst looking like I was trying to lick a window. Also featured was new resident Tuc sporting the red bull box...running behind to the dulcet echos of "Run Forrest Run". The video clip below demonstrates it in fabulous technicolour courtesy Of Wills Wozniak.

The fun continued with a beautiful dance at Le Baiser Rouge, where ladies were twirled in their finery. DJ Aarons as kind and as obliging as ever played those soppy tunes you just know you needed a tissue for. Lovely Alice one of our newest residents won the best in Easter competition and we all wish her a hearty congratulations.

The Cafe du Monde followed up the events as Le Baiser with a Best in Playboy Bunneh competition from 5-8 pm SLT.  There were plenty of sexy bunnehs and Marshall bared his legs in true Hef style with a smokey, burgandy robe. All in all it was a lovely three hours of fabulous music from DJ Song.

I loved my time spent in Second Life this weekend. I made new friendships and enjoyed the reality of how One Quarter French can be fun. I would also like to thank Billy Arentire who guided me in the Easter Egg hunt.

A Few Thoughts on Spirit

I am not a religious person.  In fact, the sight of a church nearly brings me to my knees with nausea.  There are many reasons for this... most of which don't matter.  I have not stepped inside a church since I was a teenager.  Even my wedding happened outdoors... in a park.

And yet, I have been told that I am spiritual. And if I am honest, I cannot disagree.
One definition of "spiritual" is:  of, relating to, consisting of, or having the nature of spirit; not tangible or material.

And that is perhaps descriptive of me.  Material things are of little value to me.  They become dust with time.  It experiences and people I value.

In the last 11 years, I've been a teacher and a mother and a wife.  I know I have touched lives.  I've watched my students grow up, graduate, and have children of their own.  The greatest honor that could ever have been given me were the numerous invitations to weddings and baby showers I've gotten over the years from men and women whom I knew as awkward high school teenagers, who have now become successful adults... who remember me... and say I touched their lives.

I know I will leave a legacy behind.  And it will not be my house, or my car, or my money.  It will be my spirit... my essence, my spirituality.

I am standing inside the St. Louis Cathedral at One Quarter French.  It is the closest I imagine I will ever again come to being "inside" a church unless someone holds my funeral in one.

I lit a candle.  It is for you.  And me. And all the lives we touch.

The extraordinary world of SL

I was supposed to be writing this blog last night but I was having too much fun, I forgot. So here it is readers belated but hopefully still a source of amusement. A long time ago I wrote an article for this blog explaining the reason I stay in second life is because of the people, not the av's but those behind the av's. It's my commitment to them that makes me not want to quit, despite sometimes wanting to. Real life and second life does co-mingle because we allow people to see our personalities. For some we say we don't mix them but when I log; Beanie is every bit of who I am real life. That av projects how I laugh, how I get upset and more importantly how I relate to people. I afford the same pleasantries to SL as I do in my RL. Yesterday was one of my most funniest days and also one of my most saddest as I lost someone because we bicker. To bicker with someone essentially means for me I cared, but we all move on. Its been nearly one year since Evie and I tied the companionship knot and I have to say she never bores me because well we were crafted from the same mould. Sam, Evie and I now share a quaint sky box and its been without hilarity so far. That was until Evie thought a 60 linden enchanted wood was a good investment..... For those who know me they know I like to click, and I mean click anything. I can't help it, I am the original "I wonder what will happen if I press this 'do not touch' red button?" So here I was presented with two menus PG or adult, well I am also a double darer and before I knew it I was doing the double choc throat in all its glory. Its childish I know but it amused me. This delightful menu was being pressed by Evie as she said "ohh Beanie listen she slipped off the chair because she was too juicy". We enrolled two unsuspecting male friends who will remain nameless to preserve their dignity so we could try "groups". Its very clear why Evie and I are bound by friendship because watching her rotate all 4 of us, just made me laugh harder. SL is all about laughing and not taking ourselves seriously, how else could we advise our friend whether a tail or a bulge in his fireman pants looked better. The problem with laughing is that it can become infectious so unfortunately we refrained from professionalism when we went to our club The Whirling Dervish. Then it began "Grab a Gerald night". Sam got to work stalking random Gerald's from search only to find one who kindly agreed to come to our club. Sporting only an erection he teleported in. Giggling school laughter set in which I know is still childish but listening to Sam on voice trying to explain her actions was even funnier. Then Geoff arrived not sure if he forgot he was on a penis chain but who cares he was amusing too. They were good sports trying to decipher our conversations on voice whilst laughing. They in turn teleported two lovely ladies in. That's the great thing about SL, people generally are up for conversation irrespective of who you are. Race, culture, religion doesn't come into it. Its just one big oral feast. It was a very eventful club night as our beautiful host gave out premature Easter bunnies and our at one with nature visitors brightened the evening. Pictures were taken but without consent I can't publish them (honest reason I am currently in conversation with the top shelf magazine Razzle, they want exclusivity on penis chains and bewilderment). All I can say is look out Percy's you are next as Sam organises our future Whirling event of "Pinch a Percy". Clothes optional, sense of humour a must.

Return of the Bean

Well I am not sure if its a fluke but I managed to stay logged for a full 4 hours. The oompa lumpa is now in the hands of the authorities for being a nuisance. Its been 3 months since I was last with sight but I have to say with hindsight it wasn't so bad. Communication impaired by sight is difficult, yes, but its still communication. I appreciated everyone taking the time to be patient with me especially Evie, my own labradoodle. Aarons decided to have a Beanie night at the Whirling Dervish, where I could pick any song I wanted. I was cautious not to pick I used to love her but I had to kill her for Evie so relied on count on me by Bruno Mars. A song that reflects our friendship. I had my first twirl with Bradley Verino but I cocked up the request by selecting a song about how this bloke hates this girl for stalking him. Well yup dork brain beanie is back with constant "I'm lost" statements in local. So its business as usual!

How did I get fixed well I have no clue all I know it took one of these below for things to improve.

A good old French Fancy. 5 of these down his throat and all was well in Beanie's world. Phew I say! I thought I was going to have to dust off my Karma Sutra.

So I will be frequenting One Quarter French again and fortunately for Evie doing my own Beanie Booth. I am not sure she could cope with the perils of gonorrhoea.

Thanks once again for all your advice chickadees.

BEANIE BOOTH -APRIL'S TOPIC

So one month in the Beanie Booth and it seems to be valued. I have received IM's from people saying "thanks I felt my bits and they feel great." Well embrace your beautiful willies, testicles and boobs and enjoy. April's topic is addressing addiction. This was at the request of a friend. I am sure that addiction has touched all our lives in some shape or form. There are so many things that can be researched for a variety of addictions. I chose alcohol, drugs and the Internet as I felt that these were most likely the compulsions that most of us folks had come across. The purpose of the Booth is not for me to offer my opinion but for you folks to be able to access information to help you with your health. If their is a particular topic that you want me to do please don't hesitate to send me a note card or IM me. Thanks go to the wife Evie, who popped my boards up for me as I remain blind on a text viewer. I think her spell checking was a tad more palatable with no mention of wiggly worms down willies . (Not sure how she will feel about how not to get an STD...).
